This notice explains what personal information is collected when you use this website or join the Oasis, and what is done with it.

Who is responsible

This website is run by Raymond Koekemoer, trading as The Hydrated Gut Project, in South Africa. For any privacy question or request, email info@thehydratedgut.com.

What this website collects

The pages on thehydratedgut.com set no cookies and use no advertising or analytics trackers. The only information they ask for is the email address you choose to enter in a sign-up form, which is described below. Like every website, the company that hosts it keeps standard server logs for a short time (such as your IP address, browser type, and the pages requested), for security and to keep the site running.

If you join the Oasis or the mailing list

The sign-up forms on this site send your email address directly to Systeme.io, our email service, which stores it and sends the emails. It is used for three things only: to send you the free resources you asked for, to send occasional emails about The Hydrated Gut, and to give you access to the Oasis.

  • Your details are never sold or rented.
  • Every email has an unsubscribe link, and you can also ask by email to be removed.
  • Systeme.io stores the information on our behalf. After you press the button you may briefly see a page on Systeme.io, which may use its own cookies. Its servers may be outside South Africa.
  • Please do not send medical details when you sign up or write in. They are not needed, and personal medical advice cannot be given.

If you buy from this website

The store on this website is being prepared. When it opens, orders will be processed by an online reseller, which will be named here and will be the seller on your receipt. At checkout it collects your name, email address, billing country or address, and payment details, in order to take the payment, work out any tax, guard against fraud, and send your receipt and download link.

  • Your card details go to the reseller and its payment partners only. They never reach this website or The Hydrated Gut.
  • We receive your name, email address, country, and what you bought, so that we can help with a download or a refund and keep the sales records the tax authorities require.
  • Buying a book does not add you to the mailing list. You are added only if you choose to be.
  • The reseller has its own privacy policy, which covers what it does with your information. It will be linked here when the store opens.

If you email us

Your message and email address are kept only as long as needed to reply and keep a record of the conversation.

Bookstores and other sites

Links on this site lead to Amazon, YouTube, and other services. Those sites have their own privacy policies, and anything you do there is covered by theirs, not this one. The book links are ordinary links, not paid affiliate links.

Your rights

Under South Africa’s Protection of Personal Information Act (POPIA), and under similar laws elsewhere such as the GDPR, you can ask to see the personal information held about you, to have it corrected or deleted, and to stop receiving emails. Email info@thehydratedgut.com and the request will be handled within a reasonable time. If you are not satisfied, you may complain to the Information Regulator of South Africa (inforegulator.org.za) or to your local data protection authority.

Children

This website and the books are written for adults. We do not knowingly collect information from children.

Changes

If this notice changes, the new version will be posted here with a new date.
